![]() Master-Of-All-Things-Habitat, GG Cottros, demonstrates the path to perfection. Masonite boards "step up" in the corner. This will create a "pocket" for water to be added as the very last detail (see finished base below). This pocket, though it will be filled last, has to be allowed for, and constructed from the very beginning. 2X4 pads for the feet wires have been carefully placed and leveled to accommodate a form which did not stand level on any surface, forcing a custom solution and opening the way for inspiration. Green florist's foam has been carved and added between 2X4 pads. Mache/water mixture is being added in the above photo. This will create the "rock" and form a base for the "dirt" around the edges and the "water" in the corner. Airbrushed final touches add realism to the rocky surface. Water glistens in the corner or this diorama. Driftwood lies behind the mount. Dirt and grass grow casually toward the edges of the framed base. A freeze-dried fish (with teeth-marks) lies half-way out of the water. The final illusion is that of a bobcat startled from a fresh catch. The quality of the taxidermy work makes the cat "look alive". The base and habitat take it out of this world.
