Link found a perfect
"fencepost" for this guy to sit on. Link screwed the post to the
pre-made dirt base manufactured by
Anthony Eddy Supply. These bases
have a good dirt-y color with a wooden support inside so that you can mount
directly into them or use them as a base as Link did.
He used Elmer's and peat moss applied over the base for texture, and pre-drilled holes for the weeds. The weeds are not glued in. This way, if they suffer traveling damage, they can be pulled out and replaced.
A good base idea for any bird. Reasonably-priced. A good jumping-off point to make a base as elaborate or casual as you want.
